I only read the beginning opf this post so I can only comment on the following statement: "The reason that the sponsored links are a problem is because Mr. Kolla has trademarked the software name "Spybot" and that Google was using the term "Spybot" to advertise SpyHunter and SpyKiller." Google's use of the search term "spybot" is not a violation of Mr. Kolla's trademark since they are not using it as the name or description of a competing product. (In a previous career I worked for a company that serviced trademarks so I know what I'm talking about here. Ask your local intellectual property lawyer for a clarification in case you doubt me.) It is NOT "akin to using the brand name "Pepsi" to describe an off-brand knock-off" because Google is using it as a search term and not a conpeting product. If you want to direct your ire toward someone on this issue then it should be directed at the makers of SpyHunter and SpyKiller who are paying Google for their services. Google, in this case, is the tool and the developers of the competing products are the ones using it. If someone uses a hammer to bash in someone's head you don't blame the hammer, you blame the person who used it. (A bit of a crude comparison but it's all I can comem up with right now and it works.) - Dave On Sun, 29 Aug 2004 13:13:28 -0400, Jesse <holy_saiyan1 at hotmail.com> wrote: > Wow.
