TSGL: Re: Strange Problem with Mozilla Thunderbird Email Program--HelpRC hundog at comcast.netWed Oct 6 15:22:47 EDT 2004
Lee, Here's a little info...wish I could be of more help. tfswctrl.exe is an essential process for HP's packet writing software which burns data to CD's using Microsoft Windows explorer. This program is a non-essential system process, but should not be terminated unless suspected to be causing problems. http://www.processlibrary.com/ XPCOM is the Cross Platform Component Object Model, which is a project by Mozilla to put a standard set of COM components and interfaces on any OS running Mozilla. http://tinyurl.com/6hkop Regards, ~Rick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lee Bunyard" <leebunyard at comcast.net> To: "Tech Support Guy Mailing List" <List at tsgserver.com> Sent: Wednesday, October 06, 2004 12:34 PM Subject: TSGL: Strange Problem with Mozilla Thunderbird Email Program--Help | Here's a strange one for you. I hope someone can offer some assistance. | I downloaded the latest version of Mozilla Thunderbird (Version 0.8) | several weeks ago. I've been using earlier versions of Thunderbird for | over a year now without problem, I love it. | I set the latest version up with the feature that allows my wife and I | to both use it to access our email (i.e., a box comes up and we have to | click our name to indicate which email account we want to access). | | The Thunderbird program works great except that, after we access it a | total of maybe 3-5 times, closing it out after each access, it suddenly | stops responding. When we click on the Thunderbird icon, the selection | box comes up with our names in it but when we click on our name, nothing | happens. It just sits there and does nothing. And the pc is locked up, | we have to reboot to get the Thunderbird to operate normally again. | | I suspect the following might be some clue as to the problem, but I | don't know how to interpret it. When I try to reboot the pc after | Thunderbird has locked up, two task manager boxes open: One says | "tfswctrl.exe" and the other "XPCOM:EventReceiver". Neither box will | close out until I click on "End Process Now". Then the system will | reboot and everything is OK again, until after we open Thunderbird | several times and then it becomes non-responsive again. | | Our pc is a fairly new HP desktop with a Pentium 4 chip, running XP Home. | | Any thoughts?? | | Lee in the Mountains of Northern California --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
