Hi Heidi:
Whoa, are you in the "lion's den" with your friend and myself with having
AOL.
I've been very rudely "slapped in the face" by one of the members with his
"25 Worst Things About the Internet" which was quite unnecessary but then I
considered the source!!
Let's hope everyone puts aside their total dislike of AOL and try to help
you and your friend!
As for your friend, I need to know what version of AOL she is using and I
can only help her if it's AOL 9.0 Security Edition SE. I don't know if she
would even use the same help number as I do in the USA.
I'm hoping that one of our members like ,justin at whisperer.com.au
or one of our other members might jump in and help with AOL being used in
Australia as I know that they go a whole different way of using AOL than I do.

:
Hi there everybody
a friend of mine, living in Australia, is using AOL for her ISP and she can
use her internet without any limitations. No question she could get such for
cheaper than what she pays now - have told her what great offers even I
found on the net for her, but she is totally computer illiterate and has to
depend on her 18 years old daughter even with getting and sending e-mails
for her. Since the girl now is getting less helpful and hardly ever finds
time (likes to?) help mum with her "silly hobby" (writing to penfriends all
over the world via e-mail) our friendship might break as I sure do not want
to spend lots of money on postage and wait weeks for my letter to get there
and weeks for her answer to get back here plus the weeks in-between it takes
her to answer anyway. So now I am wondering if there is a chance anybody on
the list might be able to explain in easy words how to get online and read
and answer your mails with AOL so I could post that to her via snail mail
then, hopefully making it possible for her to go online herself then...
maybe I am thinking it to be too easy, but I am just hoping it is possible
as it might be "the same" no matter what version of AOL, or
computer-programs you have. I know absolutely nothing about their computer
except that it must be not really up-to-date as it was cheap and is about 3
years in her house now when it was bought used. As I know from explaining
things to other computer illiterate friends it is best to use pictures as
well to show what to do, I would very much appreciate a picture course on
how to do it off-list then!
Hope you can help as usual
have a nice day
Heidi
