You haven't given us much to go on. Has it always been like this, or a
recent development? Any problems with any other progs? Any recent
software changes?

There's possibly some other prog running which is preventing FF from fully
closing---some internet security prog perhaps?.

The normal troubleshooting fixes to try are (not necessarily in order,
depends on circumstances):

1. Uninstall and reinstall the offending prog.

2. Do a registry restore, if you have regular and reliable registry
backups. This will fix 90% of problems.

3. If XP, try System Restore, provided there is an available date preceding
the trouble.

4. Run Msconfig and untick all startups. Reboot, close all other running
progs, then open FF and see if it will close and re-open properly. If this
fixes the prob, then it's a matter of isolating which Prog is causing the
conflict. A little logic, some educated guesses, and much prayer should run
the culprit to earth.

5. Run Task Manager and ensure that there's nothing unusual running.
Particularly look for any instances of Msie.exe (which is a common software
installation manager employed by many software installs). This is notorious
for not closing off properly after a software installation and can create
havoc with other progs. After an incomplete software installation, it
usually leaves itself and Run.dll open as well, which should also be closed
manually. Run.dll is a system file which should not normally be running in
isolation---ie it should not be visible in Task Manager.
