Can't help you with the lid hinge, but are you sure the problem with the
Ethernet port isn't the cable itself, not the port. The small plastic tab on
Ethernet plugs are notorious for losing their tension or breaking off all
together. This plastic tab snaps into place and locks the Ethernet plug into
the port until you depress it and slide the plug out. If you pulled on the
plug hard enough to remove it without pressing down the plastic locking tab,
then you probably broke the tab off and you will need to replace the
Ethernet cable.
