If you have an extra hard drive, replace the old one with the extra, install
an operating system (you don't have to register it), and see if the drive is
recognized. That will tell you if you have a faulty drive.

I am trying to find myself. If you see me before I do, please ask me to wait
until I return.

Subject: TSGL: Hard disk access
PC with 896Mb RAM
Windows Xp Professional with SP2 and updates
My HDD is not available. The PC identifies it properly in the BIOS but when
I turn it on it comes back and says there is no Operating System.
I have tried formatting using the Windows CD and it goes through the
formalities and installs Windows but when I re-start, I get the same OS
unavailable message.
I tried to format from DOS but when I go through FDISK, it comes back and
says No hard disk present.
The HDD is readable in another PC so that is not the problem.
Does this mean that my Motherboard needs replacing or is it a problem with
the cables.
Any solutions will be very welcome.
Anthony
