Subject: Full load at stand by?
Hi,
When I put my PC in stand by mode (Win XP HE, SP2, 3 GHZ Intel, a few HD
drives, 9800 GPU) I can here everything shutting down, fans slow down
and so on. After a few minutes the fans might start again to cool down
the PC as it is still on and the temperature slowly has increased. So
far everything is as normal.
But then maybe after one hour the fans starts without slowing down. They
sound (I think mainly the CPU fan) like the PC is working on full load
e.g. playing the game. And this continue as long as the PC is in stand
by. The only thing indicating the stand by mode is that the monitor is
shut off.
What I have done is...
- Made sure there are no viruses
- Made sure there are no adware/spyware
- Made sure nothing is scheduled such as back up, windows update, or
scan of any sort
- Brought up the Task Manager to see if any cpu intensive sw is running
in the back ground (nothing here either)
This strange situation with the stand by mode has lasted for about two
weeks. Before that, stand by was acting normally, and I have not
installed any sw since then.
Any ideas?
Regards / Bo
