Hi Dave,
how about trying the good old Word-trick and re-name the normal.dot file?
With the next start of Word a new such file will be created and if all is
okay then you may delete the old one. Just keep in mind all your personal
settings in Word will be gone this way as well.
Reinstalling normally does not cure a corrupted normal.dot, so it really is
worth a try.
