TSGL: Problems by the Pound

Greetings

            I recently built a new desktop PC and installed Office 2003 Pro
and IE7.

 

 My problem is that in both applications, wherever British prices are shown,
the “£” pound sign is often – but not always - replaced with an uppercase
“J”. 

 

I can’t locate any logical reason for this. My browser of choice is Maxthon
and the same problem occurs, but NOT in Firefox.

 

I have identical software (configured identically) installed on my laptop
and another desktop with no problem.

 

Any ideas anyone?
