Hi John,
thanks for the suggestions. As things are now, I won't consider more serious steps like 'Last known good configuration' or 'System restore' since I don't have real trouble with the system. I'll have a thorough look at the rest however.

Thanks - but wouldn't it be surprising if about 10 + years on the web wouldn't have left a few marks? At least on writing in English, i.e.
Cheers
Tilman

Hi Tilman,
A few ideas:
Virus check
Spyware check
Rootkit check
Last known good configuration
System restore
System file checker
chkdsk /p /r
Image restore
BTW, your command of English is astounding!
Best wishes,
John

Subject: TSGL: Program start triggers DIFFERENT program
Hi,
I've installed a program (see below) yesterday that's supposed to write
genealogy data onto an autorun CD. Program didn't seem to work.
Today I start up my online banking program and immediately get a message box
telling me "Please wait while windows configures Passage Express Free Legacy
Edition" - about 10 such boxes consecutively. I tried to cancel, which it
finally did. Online banking came up as well after that and worked as
expected.
I tried to 'Repair' that Passge Express program installation, which didn't
change things. Deleted it meanwhile and find that online banking gives an
error when I try to fire it up (some ActiveX error).
Isn't that great !
I do recall that I've had a similar experience in the past where each time I
started a specific program (can't remember it's name) I got a similar
"Please wait while windows configures ...." this time with Office 2000.
Any experience with this anybody? What can be the reason behind this all?
Sloppily coded program? Any more severe Windows problems?
Win XP Pro SP2 with most recent updates.
TVMIA
Tilman
