I've lost your initial message, just read this one now:

I would go and try to remove each and any occurance/sign of the camera's 
first installation. Deinstall the driver/s, delete any leftovers in your 
file system (do a thorough search for everything related), remove any 
entries that you might find in the registry - use jv16 or any similar 
cleaner for this.

Main aim: make your system appear as if it had never seen an installation of 
the D-540 software.
