TSGL: USB poor performance with Broadband?

I was going to run my Broadband connected to a USB HUB as my Ethernet outlet is damaged and the cable has to be wedged into it, but I have read that using the USB outlet is not as good as the Ethernet with poor performance regarding Broadband. Is this correct.
