TSGL: switch to AVAST ??

I have 4 computers and anti-virus licenses for only 3 (Trend Micro), so I'm
running free AVG on the 4th. So far, AVG has not notified me that I'll be
losing the free service, so I'll probably have to go over to Avast. I did
try Avast for a short time about 6 months ago, and frankly, I was
disappointed in it for a reason that I don't now remember ... perhaps it
interrupted me too many times, or was responsible for a slow boot. I do
remember my disappointment had nothing to do with detection problems.
Whatever it was, I went back to AVG.

So your message to the group that AVG is no longer going to be free is
disappointing. But even more disappointing, it sounds as if the end of free
Anti-Virus software is coming quickly. If AVG is giving it up, then I'd
guess that Avast and the other couple of free AV software companies will
give it up, too. That is not only sad, but the prospect of no free AV
software is very scary. There will always be those who will say "If I have
to pay for it, I'm not running it." Can you imagine the speed that Viral
software will spread if, say, 10% of the worlds computers are not protected?
This is frightening.

I am trying to find myself. If you see me before I do, please ask me to wait
until I return.

I've been using AVG for a long time.
Now I've been notified that the free service will become pay-only.

what is current thinking? pay for AVG?
switch to AVAST or some other free service?
