I read that ZA runs the CA antivirus in its Security Suite.

Lee,

Your statement that Zone Alarm is not an anti-virus application is only partially correct.
There is a Zone Alarm version which includes an anti-virus application, but it is not
free. I am not aware of which AV software Zone Alarm runs, but I assume it is at least as
effective as AVG free. If Glenn has that version of Zone Alarm, he does not need or want
AVG. However, if he has the free version of Zone Alarm, then he needs an additional
anti-virus application, one possibility being AVG.

AVG is a decent anti-virus application, certainly one of the best free applications. But
if he is willing to pay for AV software, I can suggest several others that are more
effective. Personally, I run TrendMicro and I know many folks who like Nod32. AVG will do
a fairly good job keeping your computer clean of malware, but it is only of average
effectiveness when compared to other AV softwares.

I am trying to find myself. If you see me before I do, please ask me to wait until I
return.

AVG is an anti-virus product and Zone Alarm is a firewall--they do two very different
things, you need both. Ewido has been taken over by AVG, is now called AVG Anti-Spyware,
but it works pretty much the same way as Ewido did. You should update to the AVG
Anti-Spyware product (which is also version 7.5) so you can continue to get the daily
updates. It is not included in the Free version of the AVG A/V product, not sure if it's
included in the paid AVG product or not. You can get both AVG products at the
www.grisoft.com website.
