Tilman,

I just have a general comment to add to the many excellent suggestions that
you have already received.

Anytime I see a performance issue on any system...especially when there are
no other obvious explanations...like a full hard disk or too little RAM...I
always suspect Spyware as a potential problem.

So, hopefully, she's been using some product to protect against spyware, but
if not, then get her to purchase and download a good one or purchase one
from her local software source.  You could also, go to the "www.ewido.com"
site and use their on-line scan.

You might be thinking of Microsoft's Bootvis (Boot Visualiser). It analyses 
boot and startup delays. Also has a boot optimize function which can 
occasionally be effective.

You have to remember to enable a couple of Services which you may normally 
not have running---these are specified in its Help.
