TSGL: Odd WinXP Pro Question

This is a silly little question of no real importance, but it's been
bugging me.

I have two desktop computers with XP Pro installed. Computer #1 is
about six years old with an AMD CPU, and Computer #2 is about three
years old with Intel. (Both are no-name, locally assembled.)

Way back when SP2 came out (or was it SP1?) for XP, after installing
the upgrade I noticed that the Windows logon splash screen no longer
said it was loading XP Pro, but just said Windows XP. No problem
for me--I just took it as evidence that the SP was properly
installed.

A few months ago I loaded Linux onto Computer #1 (on its own physical
drive) and made the computer dual-boot for Windows and Linux.
Everything has been working fine. No problems with either computer.

But yesterday when I rebooted Computer #1 and selected the Windows
logon, it showed me the old (fancy) WinXP Pro splash
screen--something I hadn't seen in years. Everything is still
working fine; this is the only change I've noticed. Computer #2
still gives me the generic XP splash screen. (Both computers are
using the Windows Classic graphics theme, but that shouldn't have
anything to do with the logon screen.) As far as I recall (and my
recollection may be faulty) I made no changes to Computer #1 before
the splash screen changed. But clearly something is different.
I've rebooted both computers many times since the Linux install and
yesterday was the first time the splash screen was different.

As I say, this is not big deal for me, but if anyone can shed some
light on what might have happened I'd appreciate it. Thanks.
