TSGL: Scanner cannot find Twain driver

Hi Don,
Did you disconnect the cables to the scanner when
uninstalling/reinstalling the software and particularly
the drivers? I had a similar problem back in Win 98 SE days with my
previous scanner that would not function
properly after an update until I isolated the system from the scanner
during the update. You didn't mention a model number but heres one
possible link: *http://tinyurl.com/uf2yg with some info.
*Have you tried System Restore or an ERUNT backup to a time before the
trouble?

Had you installed or updated any scanner drivers about the time this
TWAIN problem appeared? With all of the
recent Windows updates, who knows what might have been overwritten or
updated!

Hmmm, might as well throw in my own glitch here ;-)
*
* I've also a peculiar scanner problem (Umax 610S) in that the system
seems to think there is a 610P installed, and consistently now doesn't
"see" the scanner via Scanner & Camera Wizard (just the non-existant
parallel version) unless I run Install New Hardware in the control
panel. On cold boot, the power light on the scanner blinks a few times
but doesn't stay lit as it is supposed to when the scanner is
recognized. It's just an annoyance as I only use it a couple of times
per month, but I'd like to know how to easily expunge that "ghost" scanner.
