TSGL: Digital Camera

Al,

I also have XP, SP2 and have used 2 cameras on it without ANY special
software from the camera manufacturer. XP should recognize it after a
second or two as another USB device (assuming you're connecting it to a
USB port). It will then appear in the Windows Explorer folder tree as
another device among the disks etc. You can even rename your camera to
anything you want.

To get the pics from the camera just drag and drop like any other file
transfer from one folder to another. In this case (as with all similar
cases where the transfer is from one device to another device, not
folder to folder on the same device) the transfer is a copy not a move.
I.E. the source files are not deleted from the camera but are copied to
the destination you specify.

When the wizard pops up try canceling out of it if possible and see if
the camera shows up among the other devices in the folder tree of My
Computer/Windows Explorer.

If all else fails you might try uninstalling/deleting the driver that's
left over from W98.

No guarantees, of course, as I haven't encountered this problem myself
and am just speculating here.
