TSGL: Customizing folders XP

Hi Sylvia,
    That picture-on-a-folder works just fine, but /only/ in the right
pane when _Thumbnail_ view is selected.

It is possible to change individual folder icons (.ico files) which you
might design and create with an icon editor, or dig out of a .dll file.
Most .ico files are quite small, typically 1 to 30 KB, though I've seen
a few close to 200KB.
Here's a search for icon utility candidates: *http://tinyurl.com/pqu7v*

    If you wish to assign a custom icon to a particular folder, follow
    these steps:

        * Right-click the folder you want to customize and choose Properties
        * In the Customize tab, click Change icon... button
        * Browse through the shell32.dll icons (or any other .ico or
          .dll file)
        * Select the appropriate icon for the folder and click OK

    Now the folder icon preference is stored in the Desktop.ini file
    within in that folder

    The Desktop.ini file will be created with these lines (sample lines)

        [.ShellClassInfo]
        IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\SHELL32.dll
        IconIndex=21
