TSGL: IrDA device problem

Hi all,
I have a rather arcane problem. One of my passions is scuba diving and as
part of that pastime I have a dive computer that records various parameters
of each dive. It communicates with a computer through an infrared port -
IrDA. The basic driver for this is supposed to be part of the XP kernel. I
purchased an infrared sensor that connects through a USB port/connector and
comes with specific driver support. Unfortunately when I plug in the device,
the hardware detection wizard correctly identifies what it's trying to
install, reads the CD where the driver resides and then the installation
fails (and, of course, the dive computer cannot communicate with my PC).
Does anyone have any thoughts about how to proceed and remedy this problem?
Is there any information I can add to the above description that would help
the diagnosis?
Ron
