TSGL: Compaq wont boot

Yes still trying to find a way to recover the file.
The problem is that when I ran scan disk it converted the files to FAT 32.
All the files are renamed "Recovered File Fragments" and given the file
extension of ".chk". So I can see some large files, but have no idea which
one it is, if in fact it is even recoverable.
I can see the drive through Windows and command prompt, using it in a USB
case, and can execute dos-like commands that way.
I do not know if I can convert back to NTFS, or undo what has been done.
At this point I am willing to try anything, even at risk. I need to get
this computer back in service soon, and if there is no way to recover the
file then I need to restore a system and start over from scratch. Have
about 30 hours work in the file so that hurts, but time is ticking and I
need to get the DVD movie done for a customer.
Thanks, Ron
