That's possible and logical (as if logic had anything to do with 
computers!). But I've really no idea how Scandisk goes about its "repair" 
business. Add to the mix the fact that it's a Compaq. For all I know, 
Compaq might use their own propietary form of Scandisk. Many brand 
computers run their own proprietary modifications of Windows, so I'm told.
