TSGL: Digital recordings on PC

Hi Alan,

my old voice recorder is analog, not digital, so it's signal probably isn't
DAT. Just in case I would buy a modern *digital* device (which would be
easier to carry with me) - couldn't this solve the problem of getting the
info into my computer ? But from your post I gather that a quality mike on
my laptop would always be better, quality-wise ... right?

Thanks for your ideas
Tilman

Many "digital audio" devices use DAT which, while "digital" doesn't solve
the problem of getting the info into your computer where you can
manipulate/convert it to a form you can use. Given the probable bandpass
filters of your Philips voice recorder, I certainly think you'd be happier
running a quality mike into your laptop thru Audacity. And, once recorded,
you can work on the files immediately.

  Alan
