TSGL: Fully Automatic PC

What I`m wondering is, what would be the best way to configure a PC so that he would just have to press the "on" button on the PC and the thing would boot straight into a word processor such as "Word", so that he did`nt have to do anything, just turn it on and start writing his letter ...and, all he has to learn, is how to print it out.

---------------------------------------

You could put a link to something like notepad in start | programs | startup on an XP windows or Win98 Box (no logon required), but to be honest I think he's still got lots of chances to glitch things up, and you'll get tons of phone calls. He'll also start asking about email and web now that he has a 'computer.'

Don't know what your time is worth, but I suspect it would be easiest to just get him a new electric typewriter on ebay, amazon.com or craigslist. This is what I would do for my mum.

Cheers,
