TSGL: Fully Automatic PC

Hi Paramedic.
I've been pondering this idea myself back some time - just didn't pursue it
anymore since my mother (95) gave me a strict NO on this idea ;-)
My own ideas were:
PC:
- a rather simple box with - let's say - Win2000, a light version of
windows, or similar (could be anything else, even Ubuntu etc.)
- a startup procedure without user input
Wordprocessor:
- MS Word or - preferably- something more light, like Works, or any easy
editor with mailing action;
- startup set to also start the wordprocessor and open a new document (as an
option), otherwise nothing superfluous
- ability to create shortcuts, user defined command buttons etc. would come
handy (like with Word, don't know about other's)
- user customized menus and command buttons - only the necessary stuff
Printing:
- can be greatly customized. Just a button or more: landscape, portrait,
stop, reset (if this can be done)
Email ?
That should do the trick
The whole thing could be quite easy, I guess. If you succeed, please let us
know how you did it.
Thanks
Tilman

Subject: TSGL: Fully Automatic PC
Hi All,
I have an Uncle who is 100 years young, who loves writing letters.
Unfortunately his handwriting is now very bad and so now uses a typewriter,
so that people can read his letters.
He dropped his trusty typewriter a few weeks ago, which has rendered it
useless and though we have obtained two more for him (including one which is
brand new) he cant use them (one problem among many is that he can`t hit
the keys hard enough to make the type dark enough).
I don`t wish to waste money on an electric typewriter when I have a spare
PC hanging around but he has never used a computer and it looks as if it`s
too late to learn now.
What I`m wondering is, what would be the best way to configure a PC so
that he would just have to press the "on" button on the PC and the thing
would boot straight into a word processor such as "Word", so that he did`nt
have to do anything, just turn it on and start writing his letter ...and,
all he has to learn, is how to print it out.
