TSGL: sorting & re-numbering pictures

Don,

sorry, I guess there was a mental bottleneck on my side .... ;-/

I'm not used to work with explorer, so didn't comprehend your "you can do
this in XP..."

Unfortunately my XP doesn't keep the sort-order if changed manually. I'll
try to look for a fix, if there is any - my XP btw has all the recent
updates!

Doing this under explorer would be a viable method. XP's renaming isn't
exactly what I would wish for, but I could batch-'beautify' the names
afterwards quite easily.

Going to find an OLE solution ...

Thanks a lot
Tilman

Now I'm more confused. Maybe I'm just having a "thick" day! You can do
that
in XP without using any 3rd party software.

  1. Within each folder, drag n drop the pix around until they're in the
order you want. (If they won't stay where you drop them, you have an OLE
problem within XP which is not uncommon).

  2. Select all.

  3. Right click No 1, choose "rename" and type Leg or whatever. (Just
hitting F2, as I said before, will put the last photo first---a strange
  anomaly in XP)

  4. They should then remain in the same order within that folder, with
  sequential names---eg leg, leg(1), leg(2) etc.

Isn't that what you want? You will, of course, have to put all the desired
pix into one single folder to achieve the desired effect. But I should
think that would also be necessary with any external software.
