Boy, it sure is solved! Better than I could have hoped. Thanks
again to all you guys.

Actually, I've already installed the new SATA HDD as my C: drive,
and intend to use the old C: drive (now known as G:) as backup for
both of my current C: and D: drives. I now have all three HDDs
installed in my computer.
I'm still not sure how I'll handle backup in the long run. We have
four computers in the house, all on a wireless network. (One is
mine, one is for wife Dee, one is a laptop that roams but is
usually in the bedroom, and one is a Linux box to play with.) The
only ones that need backing up are mine and Dee's. For years we've
used a fairly simple system that just backs up my important files
to Dee's computer and hers to mine. On the few occasions we've had
to use it, it's worked fine for us. (The *really* important stuff is
offsite in hard copy or on CD.)
But now that we have this clone possibility, all sorts of new
options are available. For now, we'll probably just keep things as
they are, with the addition of cloning my system (which includes
Dee's daily backups) to my newly available old HDD. What we do for
the long term will take some thought.
