Hi Mike,
The 'Search for negligible risk entries' option should stay turned off 
when Ad-Aware is closed down.
The 'Search for low-risk threats' option will only remain off/disabled 
for the duration of that session.  Upon re-opening Ad-Aware, that option 
will be enabled again - as you are witnessing. 

No way to change that behaviour in the current Build 1.06r1 app - may 
have better luck in the next '2007' version coming out next month, but 
don't hold your breath.  In the mean time you'll just have to manually 
disable that scan option with every session.

All of which raises an interesting point/question does the average Joe 
think there is any difference between what Lavasoft interpret as 
low-risk threats and negligible risk?  I'm sure a lot of folk would be 
thinking to themselves, 'well, what's the difference'?

Perhaps they have difficulty with that one too and therefore don't 
mention in their help file anything about using that low-risk threats 
button/option.  Maybe it's horses for courses - what's a low risk threat 
(questionable word that one) for one person is no risk to another AND 
negligible risk to another.  It'll all depend on the user's environment 
in which the computer is used. 

My thinking is that, if both those options could be made disabled all 
the time, Ad-Aware wouldn't be _seen_ to be finding much as far as 
quantity of identifications goes.  For the pay-for versions, huge 
numbers of identifications would be a good selling point.

Bottom line is that good scans for critical objects can be achieved 
noticeably quicker (specially on slowish machines) with huge amounts of 
data on drives to be scanned if the scanning engine doesn't have to look 
for low-risk / negligible stuff.
