TSGL: Moving to a new HD?

I would be careful about relying on that working - I made a note to myself 
(yes, I found me) that it is not possible to 'clone' a partition or disk to 
a new disk using an image. Maybe it was just the programmes I was using, 
but...

It can be done that way, but it is easier to clone.

Was I making the process too complicated for myself in my initial
message?  Is it possible to simply image my C: drive to a CD or DVD,
install a new HD, and then restore it to the new drive?
