TSGL: Available substitute icons ?

Wow, when you solve one problem, its like openning a can of worms, That Bookmarks to desktop problem solution is playing havoc with my memory.

I've got a mouse that turns its "drag" into a red circle with a slkash, and will not deposit its payload anywhere. Also, it will drag a bookmark to the exposed area of the desktop; will supposedly drop its drag there, but the drag is nowhere to be found. And, when the curser re-enters the Firefox screen, the shortcut drag symbol is still attached and won't shake off. I have to reboot to get rid of it.

Now, after finally getting the shortsut to the desktop using Deskcut, it has a 'bad' icon - one of those geeneric ones. Right click>properties>change icon only has two more of the same. Ah, where was that XPPro program with the enlarged selection of icons to use. I forgot! Can anyone rattle my 
 a bit??
