Try pressing the shift button, that is a complete guess! I am a novice here and I thought I was so smart when I figured out how to move a bookmark to my desktop after experimenting! ROFL

Thanks for the suggestion.
One of my problems is with the 'dragging' process. In your suggested
scenario, I left clicked the bookmark and attempted to drag it to Start, but
as soon as I headed in that direction, the drag turned into the red circle
with the skash, llike in 'no smoking'. Same with right clicking.
In the meantime, Craig's suggestion of the Firefox add-on of Deskcut worked
just right.
Thanks for the help, and maybe you have a suggestion for the the 'no drag'
sign;?
