want to do what I described to you originally but you want a "program" that
does it for you.

                  yes

What is your reasoning behind you wanting to do this and what is your
reasoning behind using two different browsers?

I like to use multiple browsers. They each have unique, usable features.

Is it so you can say "I think I have that favorite in Internet Explorer" and
when you don't find it there, you can say "I'll just check FireFox's
Bookmarks"?

that sounds akin to self-flagellation to me
I want to use the compiled list to do my linking to favorites

Is it identical bookmarks in each browser that you are after?

I have set identical bookmarks. They are of no advantage

Are you after a filter to remove duplicates when initially combining the
firefox and ie bookmarks/favorites?

yes; the program I am looking for would maintain a list of
all shortcuts, not duplicates, and would update whenever I
add new shortcuts to IE or FF (or possibly Opera, too)

Is it for historical records so you can say to yourself "I bookmarked that
one in Internet Explorer and not Firefox and I think that is important to
know."?

no. I set bookmarks/favorites for convenience; that's what they are for.
It is not convenient to get somewhere if the shortcut is in one of the
other browsers when I need it.
sometimes I find myself GOOGLEing a topic to find a site and set
a shortcut, knowing that that shortcut is probably already
in the "other" broswer; thus I have duplicates.

Is it because one person in your household uses firefox and the other uses
IE?

that COULD be a valid reason, but isn't.

Regards,

Justin
