Since installing IE7, I've had a problem with the soft beep, but not as 
Gene described.  I'm using Win XP Home SP2, and every time I perform a 
simple operation like an Open or Save in Excel, I get a soft beep.  In 
Control Panel, I have sounds turned off completely.
