TSGL: Comodo Firewall and the Windows Firewall

Since you mentioned the your results with "Sheilds Up" (a very good test, by
the way) and the Comodo Firewall, and also the FACT that the Windows
Firewall does not stop outgoing traffic, I thought I'd run the Windows
Firewall, which is what I run, against Shields Up. The result ... complete
"Stealth". The Windows Firewall passed with flying colors.
Yes, the Windows Firewall only stops the bad guys from accessing your
computer. It will not stop some rogue application that you have installed on
your machine (knowingly or unknowingly) that wishes to "phone home". But for
knowledgeable and careful computer users, the Windows Firewall, along with
good Anti-Spyware, Anti-Trojan and Anti-Virus software is sufficient. That
does not mean that other security measures should not be taken. I also run a
WPA Wireless network, through which all of my computers connect to the
internet and to each other - none are connected with cable.
However, I must CAUTION any user who downloads application after application
on a trial basis, or goes to certain websites offering illegal downloads or
adult content ... the Windows Firewall IS NOT secure enough for you, and I
suggest you use another such as Zone Alarm or Comodo.

I've been using Comodo now for several months and am very satisfied with it.
Once you've set it up, it runs trouble-free and reliably. Mine is on the
main computer of two, whereby the second has ZA installed.
A couple of German magazines here have mentioned, tested, recommended it
lately.
I haven't tried the tests you mentioned, but whenever I used the Steve
Gibson "Shields Up" test everything was judged safe.
Also, every comment I've ever read about MS Firewall demotes it on the basis
of the lacking outgoing traffic filter.
That's all I can contribute...

Those of you that get the Windows Secrets Newsletter will see this
there. I found it a little scary. I use the free version of Zone Alarm,
v 6.5.737.0, and it failed all 3 of the Comodo Parent Injection Leak Tests.
Each test is described but I have no way to judge if these represent
real threats or are just good advertising on the part of Comodo. I did
read an article some time ago that made the point that firewalls that
claim to stop outgoing "non-authorized" traffic aren't worth anything
because any competent hacker could write code that would let him use the
facilities of a legitimate program (browser) that had been given
permission by the user to pass data through the firewall. That is what
each of these tests seem to do.
Anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyone using Comodo, especially with a
local network?
A couple of after thoughts:
If the test data contains spaces not all of it is transmitted to the
Comodo site in test 2 and there might be a couple of web page accesses
with parts of the data as page names if you use Firefox.
Notice that tests 1 & 3 use IE but test 2 uses your default browser
which in my case was FF.
I also tried to use the HackerGuardian free scan but after an incredibly
long sign up process to get my free account it rejected the ID and
Password I had just entered a minute ago to establish the account. No
joy there.
