TSGL: ADSL2 via USB or Ethernet?

Hey, Don:
I personally always use and recommend Ethernet because it does not require
modem drivers as does USB, and therefore is in my opinion less problematic
both to install and maintain. As for what is Ethernet, that could be a book,
but it is a network methodology invented by Xerox, supported natively by
Windows, and you could probably get millions of pages by Googling that
question.

Subject: TSGL: ADSL2 via USB or Ethernet?

Following a recent reformat of my C-Drive and anxious to get internet
connection, I tried installing my D-Link ADSL2 modem via its USB2 driver,
but couldn't get a connection. That's probably because I hadn't yet
installed the Mobo USB drivers.

The modem manual says NOT to connect via Ethernet, but recommends USB. When
I rang tech support they said to try the Ethernet cable, which worked fine
and is still good after a week. Speeds are the same as before with USB2.

I don't even know exactly what Ethernet is--I assume it's some sort of
space travel where I might meet up with Russ next time he mislays himself.

My questions:

1. Are there any pros or cons connecting via Ethernet rather than USB2?
Should I leave it on Ethernet while it's happy? The USB drivers on these
modems are often a pain to install.

2. What is Ethernet?
