I think it could be your equipment or your service provider, I had similar
problems with my ISP, they dragged me along for my full 18 month contract
saying to me "switching ISP's isn't going to fix the issue because your
running on repackaged re-sold wholesale internet."

Sometimes my connection would only last 2 or 3 minutes

So I pursued a solution over the 18 month contract by replacing my hardware
with many different brands.

In the end, do you know what solved the problem? you got it... switched
ISP's,

Now the only time my internet freaks out is if I have been running
BitTorrent or similar flat out for a day or two.

However, having said that... P2P Clients can freak out a broad range of
broadband modems, especially consumer-type stuff.

Don, I would buy yourself a Billion ADSL Modem, if that does not solve your
problems, try a different service provider.

By the way, i switched service provider FROM Netspace TO Internode, haven't
looked back.
