Hi Geoff,
My Canon uses a lithium ion pack and it lasts forever. They will be more
expensive initially, but well worth it in the long run.

If you do decide to go for AA rechargeables (NiCd or NiMH), remember that
the voltage is 1.2 V as opposed to the
AA-Battery voltage of 1.5 V.

Just wondering what people are using for digicam batteries these days. My
wife picked us up a new Canon digicam in Japan recently and it takes AA
cells.
I want to pick up some rechargeables, and I'm wondering what people
