TSGL: ac adaptor overheating

Well, it could be a poor connection between the plug/socket pins causing 
high resistance, producing heat.
Check if any pins are bent or dirty. Disconnect from the mains outlet, use 
some contact spray on the pins (laptop end!), then push and pull the plug to 
the laptop a few times, connect up again and hope...

I don't think i made myself clear. This is where the power supply connects
to the laptop. which causes the metal connector piece to get hot...The cord
itself does not get hot.  The connection area gets hot also.   Fan tends to
run excessively.  Battery does not overheat nor hard drive.
