TSGL: ac adaptor overheating

It should be available at any electronics store - Radio Shack, for example. 
Here's one online source:

If you know anybody who works on radios etc., they are almost certain to 
have a can. You only need the tiniest amount and it would be a pity to spend 
10 bucks for a five-year supply.

By the way, I would expect the adapter to transform the voltage from 110/230 
AC down to perhaps 12 - 20 Volts AC and then rectify it to DC. The current 
flowing depends on what the device is demanding. If there's a short circuit 
somewhere, a lot of current will flow and it will get hot. If there's bad 
conduction at some point in the circuit due to bent pins or corrosion, heat 
can be produced there because the resistance is high.
