Be aware that they both require you to disable System Restore before
downloading their scanning software (unless they've changed since I last
looked). So that you'll lose all your Restore Points.
Google search links to commercial software are only commercial links so
should be regarded with caution, if not distrust.
You can check out viruses and trojans by name at the Symantec and McAfee
sites. If they have nothing on it, it may be a false positive, though AVG
is pretty good about these. If you don't notice any adverse behaviour such
as unusual or slow internet activity, I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. If
you have Zone alarm firewall or similar, keep an eye on its systray icon to
make sure it's not showing any activity unless you are actually using the
'net. With ZA, the icon flashes to indicate any inward or outward activity.
Normally this should be steady unless you are actually browsing or downloading.
Unauthorised outward activity can be a sign of a trojan at work behind the
scenes transmitting info out of your computer. (It can also be software
looking for legitimate updates).
