TSGL: Google Toolbar Notifier

WinPatrol notified me that a BHO was recently installed named Google Toolbar Notifier. Meanwhile ZoneAlarm notified me that Google Toolbar Notifier was trying to connect to the internet. I let WinPatrol block it and I denied the ZA request. Although I use Google as a search engine 99.99% of the time I don't like it blocking use of another search engine (if that is what it would do) and I don't like it automatically connecting to the internet because I didn't know what the purpose was. Just call me cautious. I just didn't know enough about it to feel safe in allowing everything that was happening at the moment, but now I'm wondering if I made a mistake. Would I have anything to worry about if I allowed all this? And am I missing anything important if I don't allow it?
