TSGL: Page Faults

Task Manager shows me that Windows Explorer has over 77 million "page
faults". AVG shows several million, and similar with some other programs.
Most background utilities have at least several thousand. The Explorer
count is increasing by about 100 per second as I watch. Frightening!
Is this telling me anything? Is it normal? Is my machine running amok?
Performance is a little down, hardly surprising since it's ages since I had
a decent cleanup and the system's probably getting due for a reformat. But
not serious, bootup time is around 60 seconds--not great, but
tolerable. There's no obvious problems, apart from a little slowdown. What
could Explorer possibly be doing at the rate of 100/sec?
I've been downloading some Bittorrent files lately, so the system has been
running 24/7 for several days.
I've scanned for spyware, virus, etc, but only minor items found.
XP SP2, 1 Gb RAM, virtual memory set at 1.5 Gb min, 3 Gb max.
Should I be worried?
