TSGL: Wrong Digital Signature in IE

I got a call from a friend of mine. Since I don't use a digital
signature I'm lost on this one.
System is Windows XP (I think SP 2), IE 6.x
She was helping a "non computer literate" person who'd gotten a real
digital signature, but had multiple non real (ie: generated on the
machine, but no 3d party verifier). He sent a signed document with
one of the locally generated signatures, which was rejected.
She went in & deleted all but the real signature, checked a block
that said "always use this signature.
Then he lost/forgot the password & so had to cancel that signature &
get a new one.
Now when he tries to sign something the machine hunts for the
original "real" signature, instead of the new, valid one.
She thought that the check block was in Tools --> Internet Options
--> Content, but now she can't find it anywhere.
How does she get it to look for the correct (new) signature, instead
of the old one?
Thanks,
Will
