Pause and think!!!

If you ghost copy, clone, image your problem drive, with the intention of 
restoring on a good drive, just what will you restore??? Yup, all the bad 
stuff, too.
If you believe that the HDD is going, the backup to be concerned about is 
everything except the system and appplications. You then can format the new 
HDD with your OS disc, and add whatever apps you want - lengthy, but clean.

Sorry, I can't even start on your problems, so thought it best to try to 
have you avoid new ones.

The image backup of system, apps, and data works when the picture was clean.
