It was already unchecked, So I checked it, applied, then unchecked it 
again, applied.

That's done the trick.  Thanks.

Not exactly intuitive, though, so maybe I've not quite lost all the marbles 
just yet. You'd think there'd be a simpler way to change the boot identity.
