TSGL: Event viewer

Haven't seen these messages on my configuration, but might be able to offer
some advice. Since the Router is performing the DHCP function, the router is
where you need to investigate. Sign on to the router (preferably using the
wired connection) and check to see if you've inadvertently set any
restrictions on the number of connections permitted (normally the default is
50 for Linksys but may vary depending on your model), any restrictions on
lease time (which should be set to "forever", sometimes with a ZERO time,
sometimes with a specific value, depending on your model), or see if you've
set it up to only permit certain MAC addresses to be recognized. While most
of these settings normally apply to the wireless portion ONLY, I've seen
some routers get confused and start applying them to all connections. If
this is the case, you may need to do a hard reset and re-establish your
router configuration to its factory defaults and then go back in and reset
your password and WPA/WEP settings for the wireless connections.

Hi all,

Using a wireless router, XP Pro/2. Router connected to my PC per cable, to
my wife's per wireless. All TCP/IP settings on automatic.

Once per session on booting, Viewer/system gives me the message:

IP address lease 192.168.x.xx for the Network Card with Network address
...........
has been denied by DHCP Server 192.168.x.x (The DHCP Server sent a DHCPNACK
Message)

I've tried ipconfig /release followed by ipconfig /renew which changes the
above IP address temporarily - changed back by the auto-settings, I assume.

Everything works, so not of primary importance, but it would interest me to
hear if others have the same message and if someone knows why.

Cheers,

John
