Hi H and everybody else who send me nice notes of support,
Thanks for the email. As you probably know, I haven't been paying much
attention to the group, What little time I've been on the internet, I've
been reading the Google Groups messages on the fires on my mountain.
There really isn't any official information as to which homes were burned,
damaged, or lost and nobody is actually allowed to go up and take a look.
But, as you can imagine, information is leaking out and it appears that my
house and area are Ok, though, evidently, the fire reached within 25 feet of
my home. There is a map of my neighborhood that has been published
unofficially at
http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&hl=en&msa=0&msid=10094828828195404301
9.00043d23bc693ff67f594&ll=34.215067,-117.123442&spn=0.032365,0.079823&z=14&
om=1
(you may have to cut and paste at the line breaks).
My house is on one of the "blue streets" in the middle of the maps,
supposedly safe from fire. Safe from looters? Now that is another matter,
and we really won't know until we are allowed back, probably in a week or 10
days from now (the fire is still active in our area and they will not allow
us up).
But my wife and I are ok. That, of course, is the main thing. And I
understand that my church (I am an Elder of the Church) has found a place to
worship tomorrow. So I will be able to see friends and people who are
important in my life. Life will get back to normal.
Take care and, again, thanks.

Hi Russ,
I looked up one of your old e-mails where you mentioned you lived in
Running Springs. Just wanted to tell you, if you hadn't already seen it,
that Fox News has had a reporter in Running Springs for a couple of days
now. Some houses completely lost, others untouched. Sad and strange.
Wishing you the best of luck and a swift return to your home.
