TSGL: Windows low memory error

Mike, I would be inclined to set the maximum value to something much larger
if she only has 256MB of RAM, say 2GB.
Generally speaking I set the virtual memory page file size to "system
managed size"
I also recommend keeping 3 or 4 Gigabytes of free space on any hard drive
that contains a virtual memory page file.
You will probably find this friend of yours' system resources are being
chewed up by Norton 360, although it uses less resources than older norton
products, it is still pretty resource hungry.
By removing this product and using something lighter on resources, such as
Avast antivirus, your friend would see a noticable amount of useability
return to their machine.
By the way, RAM is incredibly cheap these days, a 1GB chip would do wonders
(and perhaps get rid of the error message). especially as the processor is
still very very fast.
Be sure to check the type of RAM before making the purchase so as not to buy
the wrong type. it's probably DDR or DDR2
