3. Look at "Hide inactive icons". Otherwise look at the settings for each
programme to 'show in system tray'.
2. HKCU\Control panel\Desktop - on the right, PaintDesktopVersion, modify
and set to 1
1. Don't know, but you might try: rt.click desktop, properties, appearance,
advanced. Change 'Item' to icon and see if you can get transparent under
the colours.

There is more.
1. I have lost the transparency on my icon titles;
2. lost the version number in the lower right of the screen
3. lost about 4-5 of my 10 or so items from the tray.
NONE OF THESE PROBLEMS AFFECT HOW WE DO WORK.
The missing items in the tray come back when I open them from start all
programs.
Justin, your fix did not work, trying others.

Sorry. I Should have told you the system. A 2 year old gateway desktop,
running XP Pro, fully up to date. Trying the simple fixes first. Forgot
about the transparent setup, which I did a long time ago.

I have a weird small problem: all my icons on the desktop are "selected"
have rebooted, no change. It doesn't seem to affect any thing. This was
caused by my wife doing 'something'.
Hope everybody has survived the various problems over the last month.
