Tilman,
your advice reminds me of medicine commercials.....
beware of the possible side-effects.     8-{

Chuck,

I have no own experience with this, but if you go & google for e.g. "problem uninstall media player" you'll find several hints. One might solve your specific situation ...

Other than that, personally I would probably try to use for instance jv16 and remove ALL traces of media plyer on that PC - folders, files & every single place inside the registry where the WMP is mentioned.

But BEWARE - I haven't tried this - no guarantees. Although I don't think so, this might well be a perfect way to hose your whole windos installation.

  hi

    I'm running winXPsp2 .

    my windows media player does not operate well; it is all fouled up. I've tried to uninstall it but could not figure out a way. Version 11 appears in "Add Remove Programs" but it seems to do nothing after my accepting the RollBack Option.

    I downloaded various versions, including 11, and they all said they would not install on this version of windows. Evidently the installers were unhappy with the mediaplayer mess that is
    now on my computer. Version 11 is the one

    any ideas on what to do?
